A Time to be Thankful

Thanksgiving is a time we look back at our life and remember the things and people we are thankful for.  We are so blessed to still have My Grandma and Grandpa Cornish with us and for them to be such a big part in our children’s lives.  Since my child hood we have always made the pilgrimage to Monette every holiday to meet up with family, and enjoy fellowship and a meal.  Thanksgiving has always been a favorite of mine and this year we were able to bring little 3 day old Stella with us.  This was quite a stretch just having a baby but I really didn’t want to miss it.  None of us are promised tomorrow, and next year some may not be with us anymore.  Its so sad that our generation doesn’t treasure family like it should.  People are the only things that last forever.  Treasure your grandparents, Honor your Father and Mother, and Train your children. By all means if you are saved…carry your family with you to heaven!  Don’t let an opportunity pass you by to tell them about God and what He has done for you in sending Christ to be our Saviour.  Grandpa Cornish is a perfect example of never wasting a moment, He has always had time to talk about Jesus.

Happy Birthday…To Our Country!

We always plan a big BBQ for Independence Day.  It is a family tradition that began long ago with Don’s Grandaddy E.J. Northcutt.  When Don was a little boy his Grandaddy would always cook on the 4th and all the family would gather in the pasture and eat and have fellowship.

When we were married 11 years ago Don had just lost his Grandaddy the year before and he wanted us to carry on the tradition.

This year marked our 11th annual BBQ, and we had a great time with our family and friends.  We had one of our biggest crowds, there were 56 in attendance.  Everyone had a great time and if they left hungry, it was their own fault!

The kids had a time playing with the water guns, chalk and bubbles.  The adults had a fun time watching the kids!  They didn’t know there was going to be entertainment, too!

After everyone left, we visited with our good friends the Mashburn’s and Witcher’s until sunset when they had to head out for their long drive home.  We then drove to Blytheville to see the fireworks show.  The kids didn’t seem to mind they had to stay in the van due to all those pesky mosquitoes!  It was a long day, but we all agree it was the best 4th of July EVER!!!

The TRUTH About St. Patrick

Did you know that St Patrick was NOT Irish and NOT Catholic. He was actually a Christian evangelist, preacher and missionary. He converted thousands of Irish pagans to Jesus Christ and established over 300 Bible-believing churches. He never mentioned the rosary or purgatory nor did he invoke Mary in his prayers. His creed was: “Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me.”
Christ with me. Christ before me. Christ behind me.
Christ in me. Christ beneath me. Christ above me.
Christ on my right. Christ on my left.
Christ when I lie down.
Christ when I arise.
Christ in the heart of every one who thinks of me.
Christ in the mouth of every one who speaks of me.
Christ in the eye of every one who sees me.
Christ in every ear that hears me.
From The Breastplate of St. Patrick

Pretty solid words, and this was during the time 389-465 AD. He also established missionary schools in Scotland, Britain, France, Germany, Switzerland and Italy.
Not bad for a saint……which we all are, if you are truly saved by the blood of Christ.

Just thought you  should know that us Christians should REALLY celebrate this day in remembrance of St. Patrick!!!

A Brief Bio…

Patrick was born around AD 390. When he was roughly sixteen years of age, he was captured by pirates and taken on a ship to Ireland, where he was sold into slavery. He spent the next six years alone in the wilderness as a shepherd for his master’s cattle and sheep.

Patrick was a rebellious non-Christian teenager who had come from a Christian family. His grandfather was a pastor, and his father was a deacon. However, during his extended periods of isolation without any human contact, Patrick began praying and was eventually born again in Jesus Christ. Patrick endured the years of isolation in rain and snow by praying up to a hundred prayers each day, and another hundred each night.

In his early twenties, God spoke to Patrick in a dream, telling him to flee from his master for a ship that was waiting for him. Amazingly, Patrick made the 200-mile walk without being caught or harmed and found a ship setting sail for his home, just as God had promised. The sailors were out of food for the journey, so Patrick prayed. Miraculously, a herd of pigs ran toward the ship, providing a bountiful feast for the long voyage home.

Upon returning home, Patrick enrolled in seminary and was eventually commissioned as a pastor. Some years later, God spoke to Patrick in a dream, commanding him to return to Ireland to preach the gospel and plant churches for the pagans who lived there.

In faith, the forty-year-old Patrick sold all of possessions, including the land he had inherited from his father, to fund his missionary journey to Ireland. He worked as an itinerant preacher and paid large sums of money to various tribal chiefs to ensure he could travel safely through their lands and preach the gospel.

His strategy was completely unique. He functioned like a missionary, trying to relate to the Irish people and communicate the gospel in their culture by using such things as three-leaf clovers to explain the gospel. Upon entering a pagan clan, Patrick would seek to first convert the tribal leaders and other people of influence. He would then pray for the sick, cast demons out of the possessed, preach the Bible, and use both musical and visual arts to persuade people to put their faith in Jesus. If enough converts were present, he would build a simple church that did not resemble ornate Roman architecture, baptize the converts, and hand over the church to a convert he had trained to be the pastor. Then he would move on to repeat the process with another clan.

Patrick gave his life to the people who had enslaved him, until he died at 77 years of age. He had seen untold thousands of people convert, as between 30-40 of the 150 tribes had become substantially Christian. He trained 1000 pastors, planted 700 churches, and was the first noted person in history to take a strong public stand against slavery.

Oh, how Satan distorts the truth…spread the Word!

Valentine’s Shaggy Raggy Wreath

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.  Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.   1John 4:9,10

You can’t know REAL LOVE and REAL PEACE until you know the love of Jesus Christ!  You will never know that peace and love until you are born again.  To receive God’s FREE gift of eternal life….CLICK HERE!

In Celebration of TRUE LOVE…we celebrate Valentine’s Day and we marked the ocasion with a door wreath!  Here’s How to make it…

Items needed:

  • Wire Hanger
  • About 1/2 yard of misc. fabric or dive into your scrap stash
  • fabric scissor
  • Tulle and ribbon

What to do:

  1. Bend your wire hanger into a heart shape. You could use pliers, but I just used my mommy muscles.
  2. Cut fabric, tulle and ribbon into 6 inch long strips.
  3. Tie strips around hanger and then slide all the strips to one side.
  4. After the wreath is good and full tie your bow around the top and bend the hangar hook so it will easily hang on a nail.

Don’t Let Santa Claus Have Your Children!

The following is taken from a tract put out by Bible Baptist Publications and it sums up, much better than I can, how our family feels about Santa.  We have always had issues about lying to our children and this tract only adds more reasons why we should not lie to our children or cultivate imaginary creatures in the minds of our children.  The world is at enmity with God.  Don’t give your children to the world!

Santa Claus & Satan’s Cause

The modern-day Santa Claus is an American version of Saint Nicholas, a fourth century Roman Catholic bishop from Asia Minor who was noted for his good deeds and gift giving. This tradition first spread throughout Europe, and then found its way to America by the early Dutch settlers.

Since God’s word warns us to BEWARE of tradition (Col. 2:8), we shouldn’t be surprised to find the Devil right in the middle of the world’s most celebrated holiday. Lucifer’s desire has always been to dethrone God and exalt himself (Isa. 14:12-15). He desires worship (Luke 4:7; II Ths. 2:3-4). Perhaps you’ve never thought of it, but please note how Satan robs the Lord Jesus Christ of His glory by spreading the Santa Claus tradition…

A child knows nothing of his beginning. To a child, Santa has just always existed.

“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” (Rev. 1:8)

Tradition holds that Santa Claus lives at the North Pole, a place ABOVE the rest of us.

“Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.” (Psa. 48:2)

Santa wears a red furry suit.

“And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.” (Rev. 19:13)

Santa is always pictured as an old man with white hair like wool.

“His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;” (Rev. 1:14)

Santa has the ability to defy the laws of gravity and fly around giving gifts to people.

“But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.” (Eph. 4:7-8)

During the Christmas season it is emphasized over and over that “Santa is coming”.

“He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” (Rev. 22:20)

Children are taught that Santa “knows when you’ve been good, and he knows when you’ve been bad”.

“The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.” (Pro. 15:3) “And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?” (Mat. 9:4)

Santa must be omnipresent, because he has the ability to visit over a billion homes in a twenty-four hour period. That’s over 1100 per second!

“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Mat. 18:20)

He has the ability to carry presents for over a billion children.

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” (Mat. 28:18)

Webster, 1828: “ELF…a spirit, the night-mar; a ghost, hag, witch”

“Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.” (Mat. 4:11)

Sanat Kumara is worshipped by some new age groups as God. H.P. Blavatsky, the mother of the new age movement, said on page 350 of her book, The Secret Doctrine, Vol. 2: “The name isn’t important. It is the letters”. “Santa” has the same letters as “Satan”! According to G.A. Riplinger, “Ole Nick” is listed as the name of a fallen angel in the Dictionary of Fallen Angels. (New Age Bible Versions, Gail Riplinger, pg. 53)

Friend, don’t glorify Satan by giving the glory and attributes of Jesus Christ to Santa Claus! Santa is a COUNTERFEIT GOD, and you are honoring Satan when you teach your children to believe in Santa! Christians should teach their children the TRUTH. We should glorify God by teaching our children about Jesus Christ and His saving grace!
