Pure Religion – The Lloyd Family Adoption Journey

This post is dear to my heart.  I have personally been praying for this sweet family for quite a while.  I know I am in good company, because I know there are many others lifting the Lloyd family and little Samuel up in their prayers.

This is from a post on April’s page…

I was asked today why we were adopting and why Africa. Honestly I love that question. It allows me to brag on God! I am not perfect or anyone to follow I am not posting this because I think I am good. But to tell a little of our story and answer why to anyone who we call a friend. My quitting work full time was a huge leap of faith and a test that we passed. One month and one day later God changed our lives again. That day we did a newborn session and I pulled out a scarf I had brought back from Africa. I told the mom that it was special because it was from Africa. Little did I know she too had been on a mission trip a few years ago. As she spoke I kept hearing God say the time is now. I actually had to sit twice and try and compose myself. After the session I had to hurry home to pick up our kids from school. Jason stayed behind to shoot a Senior session. During that 45 min drive I argued all of the logical reasons why we can’t do this with God. Then as I arrived to Dyersburg I heard him very clearly say you have a baby in Africa. You are the mother. You can waste time and tell me why you can’t do this but I am telling you, you have a baby in Africa. The longer it takes you to realize that is the longer he goes with out his mother!
So I pulled over and cried and apologized to God! Little did I know at the same time Jason was also having his own God moment. I thought I would surprise him but he already knew! So that’s it. We are following God every step of the way no matter how crazy or illogical and we could not be happier. One day soon hopefully we will have an update that we can post but for now it looks like we will be home with our baby in 10 months to a Year.
Thanks for reading and please keep our complete family in your prayers!

God spoke to their hearts almost a year and a half ago, and they are still waiting. Following God is not always easy, but the Lloyds have decided to do just that. No matter how difficult or expensive, they are on the journey to their son. #waitingforu

Take a moment and watch their Journey… (Warning, have tissues ready!)

God’s Law – The Only Political Solution

The fact that the founding fathers of the United States were totally immersed in Biblical teachings and principles, and that they employed them in the construction of their governmental and economic system, is evidence that the principles work. In reaching this conclusion I acknowledge that I accept the premise that the United States has been the most successful governmental experiment in all of known history. Even if a person does not believe in the existence of God, it cannot be denied that the principles used to establish the United States of America have worked for the benefit of the vast majority of the people in the United States. History demonstrates that the principles in God’s Law work to promote the greatest justice, prosperity, and happiness for the majority of people. The closer a nation follows God’s Law, the greater prosperity it will have.

(from God’s Law The Only Political Solution)

We were blessed to have author Charles Fuqua at our Republican Committee Meeting last week.  He gave a presentation on our money system in the United States and ways that we can fix the current crisis our Nation faces.  His book, God’s Law, The Only Political Solution can be purchased for $19.95 (free Shipping) from his website.  We purchased the book at our meeting and are looking forward to getting into it.  I’ll be sure to post a review after we are finished reading!  We are also planning an event at our church.  Check back for the scheduling information.

Here are a few exerpts from the Book:

History proves that more death and human suffering have been caused by powerful governments than have been caused by all other human activity combined. Our founding fathers realized that government was a necessary evil. It is vitally important that we understand both aspects of that statement. Government is necessary to restrain the evil inclinations of individuals who would harm others for their own gain. It is evil because it is composed of individuals who have inherited the sin nature of their father Adam. Government has the potential of committing more harm than any individual because it is many people working together.

Liberals believe that it is the purpose of government to protect us from our bad choices. Conservatives believe in freedom of choice, but believe that if we make poor choices, the natural consequences of our choices will correct us and prevent us from making more bad choices. It is natural that working hard brings prosperity, and being lazy brings poverty. Government cannot change this. Freedom is the ability to do whatever we choose, as long as we choose to act responsibly. If government gives all of us security in our social status (social security), it takes away our ability to excel or fail. As more of us get economic security from our government, rather than from our productivity, we become more insecure as a nation. This is because more and more of us lose the motivation to work to avoid poverty.

The reason that a free competitive market works better than a government controlled market is that a free market system is based on the premise that man is greedy and always wants more. As long as no one is granted a monopoly by the government, a free competitive market always provides more of what the people need than a government controlled market. This is because filling a need produces a profit.

We cannot fix what is wrong until we understand what is wrong. This book explains what is wrong with the world and tells how to fix it to bring peace and prosperity to all who are willing to work for it.  For more information about the book, or to schedule Charles Fuqua at your church or event check out

Protect your Second Amendment Rights!

Urge your state lawmakers to protect your Second Amendment rights

The Second Amendment to the Constitution is quite clear: “The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” This right to self-defense was enshrined in the Bill of Rights to enable the American people to protect themselves both against violent men and government tyranny. As Joseph Story, the longest serving associate justice on the Supreme Court, said, “The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered as the palladium of the liberties of a republic.”That right is now under assault from government at all levels, including the federal government, which is considering alarming restrictions on law-abiding firearms owners.Vice-President Joe Biden made it clear that even if Congress does not act, President Obama is prepared to unilaterally impose restrictions himself. Said Biden, “The president is going to act. There are executive orders, executive action that can be taken.”TAKE ACTIONUrge your state lawmakers to act now to protect Second Amendment rights in your state. Lawmakers in states like Wyoming are crafting legislation that would protect the rights of law-abiding gun-owners.

Our inalienable, God-given right to self-protection is under attack. Send a letter to your state lawmakers today.

Bankrupting of America

The following was sent to us in an email from the American Family Association.  If you would like to receive their action alerts you may sign up for them on their website.  Take a few minutes and check out our National Debt Clock, get real mad and then send the President and your Senators and Congressmen a letter the link is at the bottom of this post.

It seems Obama would rather bankrupt the nation

by Tim Wildmon

I am not so sure that President Obama is not intentionally trying to bankrupt the United States of America. I know I am not supposed to say that out loud, but I am just looking at how the man behaves. When a problem like our country’s debt is spiraling out of control – and economists and serious thinkers on both sides of the political spectrum warn against the coming calamity due to the debt — and Obama shows absolutely no interest in trying to cut or even slow down the borrowing and spending, it does make me wonder what his motives are.

While a U.S. Senator in 2006, Obama voted no on raising the debt ceiling. Every Democratic senator did and it passed 52-48. Said Obama about the vote then: “The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”

I cite that statement to prove that Obama does, in fact, know the seriousness of the debt problem our country faces. That was $6 trillion dollars ago. So if he knew the graveness of the situation then, yet when he gets elected president and can actually do something about the out-of-control spending, he doesn’t. Again, it makes you wonder why he would lead an action that, according to his own words, “weakens us domestically and internationally.”

Normally, one would assume that the president would care about this, but there has been no evidence in four years now to demonstrate that he does. The lone exception was the debt commission that he put together at the beginning of his first term and when they issued their report, Obama threw it in the trash. It was as if the commission was all for show and he never had any intention to implement their recommendations.

In a January 2011 editorial, even the liberal Washington Post editorialized with a headline that said this: “Mr. Obama has chosen not to lead on the deficit. Is there a plan B?” Near the end of the editorial, after giving two other possibilities why Obama has chosen not to do anything about debt, the WP writes this: “The third, and scariest, possibility is this: The White House may have decided that debt reduction is so tough it has to await what officials, speaking not for attribution, have termed a “forcing event” – a spike in interest rates, a reluctance by foreigners to buy U.S. debt or some other market disruption that would frighten Congress into action. What’s disturbing about this idea is that such “forcing events” tend to take on lives of their own; once a panic starts, it’s not easily controlled.”

Since Obama took office the national debt has gone from $10 trillion dollars to $16 trillion dollars. This is what I mean when I suggest he either does not care about the surging debt or – to take a more sinister view – he is actually trying to run up the debt. But to what end?

Another item that raises my suspicions about Obama’s intentions is the fact that his Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner now says we need to get rid of the “debt ceiling” altogether. The debt ceiling is the limit to the amount of money the federal government can borrow. Only the Congress can extend that amount. In other words, Obama’s number one financial guy says the president should be able to borrow an unlimited amount of money without congressional interference. Is this a sign of an administration that is in any way serious about reducing the size of government?

While my questions about Obama’s intentions are the things movies are made of, as I have said, I am only looking at the facts and his actions and inactions. Here you have a house smoldering and the owner does not even want to get out the garden hose? Does that make sense?

But as I have stated before, Republicans must shoulder some of the responsibility for the debt as well. But at least they want to do something about seriously cutting spending including entitlement reform, which is the big reason we continue to go into debt. Obama doesn’t even want to do that. And the American people, by a 51% to 49% advantage, affirmed Obama’s position of continued trillion dollar yearly deficits. Half of Americans don’t pay federal income taxes so they don’t see themselves as having skin in the game. It is human nature – they are not paying in so what do they care?

In a few weeks we could have the Mother of All Show Downs when the debt ceiling vote comes up again. President Obama, before he left to go back to Hawaii for more golf, told Republicans he will not discuss with them the debt ceiling increase. In essence he told them: “You will borrow more money without any concessions of spending reductions on my part.”

And unless the Republicans want to “shut down the government” or “put America into default” they will do exactly as they have been told by Obama. The pressure on House members who threaten to vote no on borrowing more money to feed the federal government beast will be enormous.

It should be noted, as Senator Ted Cruz and others have pointed out, there is plenty of revenue for the federal government to service the debt at current levels. But to do that would mean that the government would then have to make priority choices about what other departments and programs get funded, albeit very painful choices, with the monies left over. In other words, the government does not have to default. A default means you have no way of paying a debt. That is not the case.

Again, all the above makes me wonder if this is an intentional effort to push us to the point of no return, if we are not there already. By “point of no return,” I mean the point at which a full blown economic collapse is inevitable. I don’t know that the looks like exactly, but I’m told by those who know something about economics it will look real, real ugly.

Please join me in sending a clear message to President Obama to “Stop bankrupting America immediately!” In addition, a copy of your letter to President Obama will be sent to your Senators and Representative.

Military Religious Freedom Act

U.S. Senators Roger Wicker (R-MS) and Jim Inhofe (R-OK) have introduced the Military Religious Freedom Act (S.3526). The Wicker-Inhofe legislation explicitly outlines how the Defense of Marriage Act should be applied to the Department of Defense.

Specifically, the bill would (1) prevent military chaplains from being forced to perform a marriage ceremony if the chaplain objects for reasons of conscience and (2) prohibit marriage or marriage-like ceremonies at military facilities that are not a union between one man and one woman.

“We see that the Department of Defense approved in May of this year a same-sex marriage celebration in a military chapel [at] Fort Polk, Louisiana,” Wicker notes. “DOD also proclaimed June as ‘Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month.’ So, this DOD under President Obama is really, really pushing hard on a radical pro-homosexual agenda.”

Last year, the Department of Defense authorized military chaplains to perform same-sex marriages in accordance with state law. The authorization allows military chaplains to participate in ceremonies on or off military bases in states that recognize same-sex marriage.

Email your two U.S. Senators today and urge them to sign on as co-sponsors of the Military Religious Freedom Act.

If your Senators are already a co-signers, they will let you know. (Then, you’ll be able to thank them!)

You may copy and paste the following letter when e-mailing your Senators…

Dear Senator _______________,

The Military Religious Freedom Act is designed to prevent military chaplains from being forced to perform a marriage ceremony to which they object for reasons of conscience. It also prohibits marriage or marriage-like ceremonies at military facilities that are not between one man and one woman.

I urge you to sign on as a co-sponsor of the Military Religious Freedom Act introduced by Senators Roger Wicker and Jim Inhofe.

Our military should not be used a political football for advancing a sexual agenda.  Please let me know you are supporting this bill.
