Big Springs
Since our house building is drawing to a close, we had to head back up to Van Buren to Crafton’s to pick out our finishing touches. The kids don’t always enjoy the 2 1/2 hour drive so much, but this time we had a few ideas to make it more fun. For starters we ate lunch at the Jolly Cone. They have been in business since the early 50′s and have picnic tables to eat on outside. The kids really enjoyed that, but they especially enjoyed their vanilla cone afterwards. We then went to Crafton’s and picked out our tile, stone, paint, cabinets and doors. Then it was time for the real surprise…Daddy carried us to Big Spring. It is a State Park located 4 miles outside of Van Buren. We noticed they also have cabin rentals (Those beautiful State Cabins built by the CCC) and we will be making plans to return and rent one!

The Mailbox Club
When we went to the Farm and Gin Show this year we made our usual stop at the Fellowship of Christian Farmers booth. We had stopped by there the year before, but we neglected to sign up for the FREE Mailbox Club. This year we didn’t pass it up. The other day we received the first story (Bible Lesson) in the mail. Only 3 of our kids are old enough to participate, but even Eli joined in. They received a little Bible and a story with a memory verse color page and questions. After the story is read they color the picture and answer the questions. The questions page is detachable and this is the part you send back in to receive the next lesson. After 7 lessons are completed the kids will receive a certificate. The memory verse this time was Genesis 1:1. The kids already knew this one. I will warn you that on their worksheet they did not use KJV for their verse. Since the KJV is what we use ans memorise…we just adapted their worksheet!
The Mailbox Club Mission Statement
“To win the children and young people of the world to Christ, and help nurture them into spiritual maturity through Bible correspondence courses and into local churches. This is accomplished through direct ministry and by multiplying our efforts through key partnerships and the Body of Christ around the world.”
The Vision for the Mailbox Club
The Mailbox Club facilitates translation, production and distribution of Mailbox Club lessons around the world for people of all ages, with particular emphasis on children and young people.
We reach many more children effectively by teaming up with strategic partners (which includes the local church). We support our ministry partners by adequately training them and sharing the best practices we have learned from 45 years of follow-up ministry.
Our vision is to reproduce thousands of “mailbox clubs” around the world, by way of the distribution of curriculum through key ministry partners who share our calling to reach and disciple the children of
the world for Jesus Christ.
